Freedom Fisher

We experimented last year with the idea of spreading legs out a bit and adding balloon tires to get bouyant leverage. That worked spectacularly well. So then we thought about adding another slot to give the wheels a chance to actually engage the water and provide more active stability during drifting or trolling.
Presently, the Freedom Fisher is a promising prototype that is undergoing real world testing across a variety of kayak designs. Once we have more test results and user feedback, we will be making a decision about how and when to proceed to production.
To get a better understanding of the Freedom Fisher and what's involved, here is a quick walk through.
To see a bit of historical footage of our first attempt - documenting "active stability" when the wheels are in the travel position, you can check out the test we ran in 2025 here:
I've got to say, David Dear was my safety man on this first test and he helped immensely with the video work.
Then this May I had a chance to go to Texas to visit Tim Everest from Corpus Christi. We spent a total of 4+ hours on the water under windy conditions. Really, I was shocked at how much the Freedom Fisher impacted the ride in the wind -- in a very good way.
